Bearing Song

Bearing Song is a small store and guitar studio owned by Sarah Hanson a recording singer-songwriter from Alaska. Sarah has been songwriting for 15 years and teaching guitar for 5. She was born in Nome, raised in Juneau and lived in Fairbanks for 5 years befor relocating to Nome with her husband. Sarah now owns and operates the thimble-size store where she teaches beginning guitar players of all ages, sells and orders what any guitar player/musician needs.

What She Does

Sarah teaches guitar to ages 5 and up and specializes in catering to each persons individual abilites. Her main foucus is enjoyment and encourages students to be gentle with themselves as they begin a new endevour. This is especially important for adults! Children are experts at trying new things but adults are often thrown off by being a novice. "I always start where you are whether you have practice all week or have not touched the guitar since the last time we had a lesson." Sarah encourages practice and sends children home with practice sheets to chart each day of the week with a smile or a sticker as they complete their practice.
